Apple Unveils M4 MacBook Air with Enhanced Performance and Sky Blue Color
Apple has released the latest generation of its MacBook Air lineup with significant updates that enhance performance as well as aesthetics. The new models are equipped with Apple’s M4 chip, which is touted to provide significant enhancement in processing ability compared to the previous models. The M4 chip has a 10-core CPU and an 8-core or 10-core GPU, depending on the model. This results in substantial performance boosts, with Apple pledging up to 1.6 times more performance in Excel, twice the performance in iMovie, and twice the performance in Adobe Photoshop compared to the M1 models.
One of the stand-out features for the new MacBook Air is the ability to now sustain two external displays at 6K resolution at 60Hz, which translates to users being able to now operate on three screens simultaneously. This is an upgrade compared to the previous versions, where only one external display could be supported. This is also possible on the M4 chip without needing to shut the laptop’s lid, unlike with some of the previous versions.
The design of the MacBook Air remains thin and sleek, though it now comes with an extra color option: a vibrant sky blue hue. The metal light blue hue creates a gradient-like effect when light reflects off its surface, complementing the already existing midnight, starlight, and silver color options. Each of the colors comes with a matching MagSafe charging cable, further contributing to the device’s general visual appeal.
In addition to the M4 chip and the new color, the MacBook Air also features a better 12MP Center Stage camera. The camera captures more detailed photos and enables features like Center Stage, which keeps the subject in the frame even while moving, and Desk View, which presents the user and the desk with perspective correction.
The battery life of the new MacBook Air remains the same as the previous ones, with a battery life of up to 18 hours of video playback. The battery life remains the same despite the performance boosts because of the power efficiency of the M4 chip. The laptop also features a new, slightly larger 53.8-watt-hour battery in place of the previous 52.6-watt-hour battery, which is utilized to ensure battery life despite the more powerful processor.
Apple has lowered the starting price of the MacBook Air to $999 for the 13-inch model, a reduction of $100 from the previous generation. The 15-inch model starts at $1,199. The price reduction makes the MacBook Air a more appealing choice for buyers, with better performance and features at an affordable cost.
The latest MacBook Airs can be pre-ordered and ship on March 12. With its increased performance, expanded display capabilities, and stylish design options, the latest MacBook Air is poised to continue its popularity as a high-performance and versatile ultra-portable notebook.
