Apple’s New iPads and Macs Start Reaching Global Consumers in Anticipated Spring Launch
Apple just rolled out several new devices, including the iPad Air with the M3 chip and a revamped version of the entry-level iPad with the A16 chip. Both were unveiled on March 4 and became available for preorder, with shipping starting on March 12.
The new iPad Air is equipped with Apple’s M3 chip, which truly enhances performance and efficiency. Compared to the previous M1 chip, the M3 chip provides nearly a doubling in speed, while compared to the A14 Bionic chip, it offers up to 3.5 times more performance. The upgrade makes it possible for users to make content more interactive and fun, have smooth experiences playing graphic-intensive games, and get fast processing on all activities.
The iPad Air is available in two sizes: an 11-inch model ideal for mobile use and a 13-inch model offering a larger screen for greater creativity and productivity. Both models are offered in four fashionable colors: blue, purple, starlight, and space gray. Storage capacity is offered in 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB.
To complement the iPad Air, Apple has also released a new Magic Keyboard designed especially for these models. The keyboard offers flexible usage opportunities and facilitates the potential of users. The iPad Air supports premium features such as Apple Intelligence, enhanced cameras, fast wireless 5G connectivity, and Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C) support.
The 11-inch iPad Air will be priced at $599 for Wi-Fi and $749 for Wi-Fi + Cellular in the United States. The 13-inch begins at $799 for Wi-Fi and $949 for Wi-Fi + Cellular. Prices for education are a bit cheaper at $549 for the 11-inch and $749 for the 13-inch.
The budget iPad, last updated in 2022, has been upgraded with the A16 chip. This version is priced lower to begin at $349 for the base model. The A16 chip offers a massive performance and efficiency boost compared to previous versions.
Both the new iPad Air and the standard iPad contain at least 30% recycled content, including 100% recycled aluminum in the enclosure and 100% recycled rare earth materials in all of the magnets. The batteries employ 100% recycled cobalt and over 95% recycled lithium, a significant step towards sustainability.
Aside from these iPad updates, Apple has also made other releases, including the M3 Ultra chip for Macs that offers the most powerful CPU and GPU ever in a Mac. Apple has also delisted some of the older models of Macs and iPads following these recent releases.
