iRobot has just launched a new series of Roomba robot vacuums with significant improvements and innovations across the board. The new series includes eight models, each of which is designed to fit different budgets and needs. Among the models, the Roomba 205 stands out for its capacity to store up to 60 days’ worth of dust and debris without a self-emptying base station.
The Roomba 205 is ideal for homes where a big base station would not be practical. It comes with an in-built dust compactor that automatically compresses the trash collected, so it can hold dust and trash for up to 60 days. The feature is similar to the hands-free working time of previous self-emptying models but without the big base station. The Roomba 205 rather comes with a compact charging base, which is convenient to set up and use.
The Roomba 205 starts at $449 for the vacuum-only model and $469 for the one with the mop attachment. The mop attachment adds basic mopping ability with a washable, reusable microfiber pad and a small water tank. This is an excellent option for shoppers who want extended hands-free runtime without a docking station.
Outside of the Roomba 205, iRobot’s new lineup includes other important models:
Roomba 105: This is the budget model, with LiDAR navigation and improved suction. It starts at $299 and can be paired with an optional self-emptying dock or mop attachment.
Roomba Plus 405 Combo: This has up to 75 days of dry debris capacity and includes a larger battery and a large water tank for mopping. It starts at $799.
Roomba Plus 505 Combo: Its premium variant includes upgraded navigation with PerfectEdge Technology and PrecisionVision AI. It has advanced mop cleaning and drying functionality, and costs start at $999.
Roomba Max 705: A bare vacuum model with powerful suction (13,000Pa), intended for people looking for more cleaning power without the mopping function. It is available at $899.
iRobot’s new line puts customer convenience first and value for money. Equipping lower-end models like the Roomba 105 with LiDAR navigation results in cleaner, more precise maps. The automatic emptying base stations have been redesigned to hold 75 days of trash and some models offer mop pad automatic washing and drying.
The Combo Roombas, like the Roomba Combo 10 Max, still enjoy such features as seamless transitions from vacuum to mop, with added features like Dry Rug Intelligence to help preserve carpets.
Overall, iRobot’s new range of Roombas is attempting to provide different options for customers, from budget models with premium features to premium models with premium technology, so that there would be a Roomba for every house and every cleaning need.
