Katamari Damacy Rolling Live Launches Exclusively on Apple Arcade in April

Katamari Damacy Rolling Live, the first Katamari game produced in-house in nearly eight years, will arrive initially on Apple Arcade on April 3. The new game should bring back the quirky gameplay the series has come to expect, with the time-tested mechanic of “roll, stick, and grow.” The game’s protagonist will once more be the job of rolling a Katamari, accumulating all manner of objects to increase its size, while fulfilling the goals of the King of All Cosmos.
In Katamari Damacy Rolling Live, the King has begun a new life as a livestreamer, and the player is required to help him build his audience by completing challenges and collecting items. The game features a captivating soundtrack and fresh gameplay mechanics, including the ability to unlock new stages, costumes, and channel badges by collecting “Royal Presents.” Players are also able to search for hidden “Cousins” to play as their favorite characters.
This new title is one of a batch of six titles coming to Apple Arcade in April. Other significant additions include Space Invaders Infinity Gene Evolve, which gives the classic shooter a new twist by shifting from retro appearance to modern 3D game. RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic+, a remake of the classic theme park simulation game, will also come, featuring content from the first two games and three expansion packs.
The Game of Life 2+, a sequel to the popular family board game, and Sesame Street Mecha Builders+, a children’s science, technology, engineering, and mathematics learning experience, round out the April lineup. Last but not least, puffies., a delightful puzzle game from Lykke Studios, rounds out the new releases.
Apple Arcade continues to expand its library with these new titles, offering over 200 games without ads and in-app purchases. The service is $6.99 per month or included in the Apple One subscription. The broad range of new games satisfies various tastes, from retro game enthusiasts to families and casual gamers.
The Katamari series boasts a rich history, beginning with the first Katamari Damacy for the PlayStation 2 back in 2004. It caught everyone off guard and became a hit thanks to its zany gameplay where players roll around in a ball and gather objects to become big. The series has seen numerous releases since then, ranging from mobile releases like Katamari Damacy Mobile 2 and Tap My Katamari, to remasters like Katamari Damacy Reroll and We Love Katamari Reroll+ Royal Reverie.
The return of Katamari Damacy with Rolling Live is an exciting experience for fans, restoring the quirky atmosphere and hook-tastic gameplay of the series. Despite the departure of creator Keita Takahashi to new projects, the new game makes sure that the charm that has made Katamari a successful franchise is not left behind.
