iPhone 17 Air Dummy Leaks Highlight Ultra-Thin Design Compared to Other Models

Recent leaks have provided us with a glimpse of the new iPhone 17 series, which consists of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, and iPhone 17 Pro models. The leaks are done using dummy models and CAD files, which reveal significant design changes across the series.

The iPhone 17 Air is being billed as Apple’s thinnest iPhone to date, measuring approximately 0.22 inches (5.5 mm) in thickness. This very thin profile is so minimalist that it might not be MagSafe compatible due to the thin width, even though wireless charging stays. The Air model replaces the traditional Plus variant and features a single camera module at the rear, drawing inspiration from phones such as those within Google’s Pixel lineup. The camera module runs along the phone’s length, creating a distinctive design compared to its predecessors.

Despite its thinness, the iPhone 17 Air will have decent battery life with the use of new battery technology that stores energy to the fullest without increasing the physical dimensions. The phone will be a hit among consumers seeking the thinnest iPhone experience.

The iPhone 17 Pro will probably receive a more extreme makeover, such as a full camera bar along the top of the rear casing. This extended camera module is a part of an overall design upgrade that includes a slightly thicker construction than the previous one. The extra thickness could potentially accommodate a larger battery, which could potentially increase battery life. The Pro retains Apple’s usual triple-camera setup, which could include a 48MP main sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 12MP telephoto lens.

The standard iPhone 17 model appears to stick with a more traditional design, similar to the iPhone 16. It keeps the thickness of around 0.3 inches, similar to previous designs. While the design is familiar, the iPhone 17 will apparently receive internal updates, including a new A19 chip and incremental camera improvements. The phone is sold as a familiar option for people who just want a familiar design but improved performance.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max will likely be the larger variant of the iPhone 17 Pro with a similar camera module design but slightly thicker build. This added thickness, which is approximately 8.725 mm, is probably meant to house more sophisticated hardware and possibly improved battery life. Even though it will be thicker than the iPhone 17 Air, the Pro Max will have similar dimensions for length, width, and screen as the Air variant, so it will be a sturdy option for those who don’t mind bulking up over thinness for features.

Overall, the iPhone 17 series will come with significant design and feature refreshes, with each model catering to individual user preferences. The very slender iPhone 17 Air will appeal to users who want style and minimal weight, while the Pro models will focus on premium camera abilities and potentially improved battery life. These advancements will presumably be announced officially in September since Apple tends to do so around this period annually.
