Google Pixel 9a has been largely leaked through some YouTube unboxing and hands-on videos, which have revealed virtually all details of the imminent launch mid-range mobile phone. Leaks emerged barely a week before the phone was expected to hit stores officially on March 19.
Pixel 9a has a flat back with a camera module that is almost flush, a stark difference from the traditional Pixel design that has a camera bump. The phone’s metal front is paired with a matte-finished plastic back, rather than glass. Plastic back aside, the phone is IP68-rated, so it can withstand accidental water exposure.
The front of the phone, however, looks a little old-fashioned since it comes with thick screen bezels. This design gives the phone a vintage appearance that might not be something everyone in the 2025 mid-range segment would desire.
Pixel 9a has a 6.3-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2424 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen is reported to have a maximum brightness of 2,700 nits and is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3.
The phone is powered by the Tensor G4 chip, which has been tested and worked great without getting hot. It also features a large 5,100mAh battery, which should provide extended battery life.
The Pixel 9a will be available in two storage capacities: 128GB and 256GB. The box is identical to other Pixel 9 series phones, with no charging brick included.
The phone has a dual-camera setup with a 48MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide camera. The camera performance has been shown in a few videos, where the optical image stabilization (OIS) feature of the phone has impressed all with the resulting video stabilization.
In terms of performance, the Tensor G4 chip is fine with gaming and benchmarking, but detailed performance reviews will be done once the phone is available for sale.
Pixel 9a should be launched on March 19 officially as the budget option in Google’s Pixel series. The design not being the cup of tea of many people notwithstanding, the specifications and features of the phone lean in favor of the phone being a good mid-range performer. Having a potent processor, large battery, and advanced camera specifications in it, the phone makes it a strong consideration for the money-conscious users aiming for the budget-priced Pixel.
