Samsung is in the latter stages of beta testing for the One UI 7 for its Galaxy S24 lineup, with a focus on fixing bugs and polishing features leading up to April’s stable launch. The last beta releases have introduced several big enhancements and fresh features, making a huge step forward compared to the previous One UI 6.
One UI 7 aims to deliver a more natural and personalized user interface, blending AI-driven features that simplify interactions with Galaxy devices. Among the update is a new interface offering clean and uncluttered features, such as a simpler home screen, new widgets, and a dynamic lock screen. These features allow users to personalize their devices more effectively, making them more convenient to use.
Live Notifications and Now Bar: One UI 7 introduces Live Notifications, which provide real-time information for various apps, and the Now Bar, which displays important information on the lock screen. These include Google sports scores, allowing users to stay updated without unlocking their phones. The Now Bar also includes media playback notifications, making it easier to control music or video playback from the lock screen.
AI-Powered Features: The update includes numerous AI-powered features aimed at enhancing productivity and creativity. AI Select makes it easier to share content by proposing actions based on context, such as saving a video clip as a GIF. Writing Assist helps users summarize or format text better, and Drawing Assist enables users to visualize ideas through text prompts and sketches. Audio Eraser provides state-of-the-art audio editing capabilities, using which it is possible to isolate and remove undesirable sounds from videos.
Integration with Gemini: One UI 7 is deeply integrated with Google Gemini AI, so there are natural voice interactions. Users can browse suggestions and accomplish things by speaking naturally, as they would to a friend. Even settings see users able to naturally adjust preferences, such as adjusting the screen brightness or enabling eye comfort features.
The latest beta releases have been focused mostly on bug fixes and stability improvements. Issues such as random display bugs with the Now Bar controller, lock screen notification settings, and icon size on the widget setting screen have been resolved. Issues with widget transparency blur, font/image overlap, and quick action menu spacing have also been resolved. Random functionality of the Gallery edit button has also been resolved, which offers smoother performance.
Samsung has announced that the official rollout of One UI 7 will begin on April 7, starting with the Galaxy S24 line, Galaxy Z Fold6, and Z Flip6. The update will later be pushed to other Galaxy smartphones and tablets in the following weeks. This rollout marks a significant development for Samsung as it aims to provide a better and more integrated AI-driven experience across all its flagship devices.
The beta testing process has been received positively, with users liking the enhanced user interface and AI-driven features. With Samsung preparing for the stable release, the focus is on delivering a smooth and bug-free experience to users.
