Apple recently updated Final Cut Pro for iPad and Final Cut Camera with a few new features that enhance video editing and recording on Apple devices.
The updated version of Final Cut Pro for iPad comes with the following key enhancements:
Portrait Orientation Support: It allows users to edit video in portrait orientation, which improves the editing experience and provides more flexibility in how users edit their content.
New Keyboard Shortcuts: The update includes new keyboard shortcuts for nudging a selection, replacing with gap, and lifting or overwriting to the main storyline. The shortcuts are designed to speed up the editing process by allowing common tasks to be more easily accessible.
Image Playground Integration: Using this feature, one can leverage Apple Intelligence to create stylized images from text descriptions, suggested prompts, or people from the Photos app. The integration requires an iPad with A17 Pro or M1 and later, and iPadOS 18.2 or later.
50fps Video Capture: The ability to capture video in 50fps provides more editing and delivery flexibility, allowing for smoother playback and more precise control of video content.
Final Cut Camera has also been significantly improved:
Telephoto Lens Support: Users can now quickly switch to the 48mm telephoto lens on iPhone 14 Pro and later, allowing for more precise and flexible camera control.
Spatial Audio Recording: Final Cut Camera now supports Spatial Audio recording on iPhone 16 and later, allowing for an improved audio experience with more realistic and immersive sound.
50fps Video Recording: Same as Final Cut Pro for iPad, Final Cut Camera now captures video in 50fps, allowing for more editing flexibility and smoother video playback.
Log Video Recording: Customers are able to playback Log videos either in SDR or HDR with the original scene vividness through the use of the Apple Log LUT. It is supported in iPhone 15 Pro and onwards.
Final Cut Pro for iPad is a subscription service that costs $49 yearly or $4.99 monthly. Final Cut Camera, however, can be used for free. Both apps are meant to be used in tandem, and users can capture video from as many as four devices and directly import it to Final Cut Pro for iPad for editing.
These additions are a continuation of Apple’s efforts to make its mobile offerings more innovative, and more appealing to professional and amateur video creators. By adding these sophisticated features like portrait orientation editing and recording in Spatial Audio, Apple is striving to provide a complete video production studio that is powerful and portable.
