Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Mobile GPU Launches with Improved Efficiency and Performance for Gaming Laptops

Nvidia officially released the GeForce RTX 5090 as the flagship GPU for its newly introduced Blackwell generation, announced during CES 2025. The RTX 5090 has significant updates over its previous version, including 21,760 CUDA cores, 32 GB of GDDR7 RAM, and 575 watts total graphics power. It introduces DLSS 4 technology with Multi Frame Generation, enabling AI-driven rendering of up to three additional frames for every traditionally computed frame, effectively doubling performance in supported games and applications.

The RTX 5090 Founders Edition is slimmer than the plump RTX 4090 cards and will retail for $1,999. While that’s higher than the flagship model of the previous generation, it avoids the speculated price hike above $2,000. Add-in board (AIB) versions will retail for approximately $2,500. The GPU will be available on January 30, 2025, and will be sold in nations such as the US, UK, and Australia.

Performance benchmarks highlight the RTX 5090 as a raw force GPU with unmatched raw power and optimal AI capabilities to overwhelm others. The card features next-generation Tensor Cores and Ray Tracing Cores and assures double the processing of AI in comparison to the RTX 4090. The card also benefits from newer technologies like GDDR7 memory and PCIe Gen 5 interfaces.

Despite its breathtaking specs, power usage and heat issues remain due to its increased TGP. Power connector melting issues of the past have been addressed by Nvidia redesigning the 16-pin connector to be more reliable. Launch stock shortages are said to be possible due to NVidia and AIB partners’ communication issues.

The RTX 5090 stands as the ideal choice for game enthusiasts seeking best-in-class performance and cutting-edge features. Its AI-driven optimisations place it particularly favourably within applications that take advantage of DLSS 4 technology. The RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are Nvidia’s attempt to keep pushing boundaries in technologies while enhancing over what has come before in terms of design and capabilities.
