TECNO has unveiled its second generation of foldable smartphones, the PHANTOM V Fold2 and PHANTOM V Flip2, to provide users with better productivity and creativity with advanced AI capabilities and high-quality hardware. The two smartphones feature MediaTek Dimensity chipsets, with the Fold2 model featuring the Dimensity 9000+ and the Flip2 model featuring the Dimensity 8020. The Fold2 comes with a 7.85-inch inner screen and a 6.42-inch cover screen, while the Flip2 features a compact form factor with a 3.64-inch cover display.
The best of these devices is the new TECNO AI suite, which includes features such as the improved Ella AI Assistant, AI Artboard, and AI Wallpaper. These enable users to seamlessly perform operations such as text translation, document summarization, and AI imaging. The Ella AI Assistant, which runs on Google Gemini, can manage over 600 system functions and several local languages, making it very convenient for users in the emerging markets.
The Fold2 introduces new features like Circle to Search and Sketch to Image that allow users to interact with on-screen objects with ease. Its super-light design, measuring a mere 6.1 mm in thickness when unfolded and 249 grams in weight, makes it one of the most portable foldables available. The phone also supports stylus for increased productivity.
Flip2 is all about delivering a stylish and functional experience with its infinity pool-inspired ThruPool Cover Screen. It features a dual-camera setup with 50MP sensors and an ultra-wide-angle lens offering a 150-degree field of view. Both devices support fast charging, with the Fold2 featuring a 5750mAh battery and 70W charging support.
TECNO aims to bridge the technology gap between developed and developing countries by offering high-quality features at low costs. The foldables will be sold in markets in Africa, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America as affordable alternatives to high-end products from other brands such as Samsung.
