Apple Releases macOS Sequoia 15.5 First Beta for Developers

Apple has rolled out the first beta for macOS Sequoia 15.5, the latest move in its Mac operating system development. The beta introduces some cutting-edge features, including Apple Intelligence, which integrates AI capabilities natively into the operating system to deliver more productivity and experience to the user. Apple Intelligence drives tools to rewrite, proofread, summarize text, create custom images, and generate emojis. Siri gets improved contextual awareness and can leverage ChatGPT for sophisticated queries.

One of the most impressive features is iPhone Mirroring, where one can use his or her iPhones from their Macs via keyboard and mouse. Apps and notifications are accessible even when the iPhone is locked or stowed. This feature will be extended further later this year to incorporate drag-and-drop gestures between devices.

Other highlights include improved window tiling for multitasking, updated Safari with compressed websites and highlighted important content, and an overhauled Photos app with such features as Clean Up to remove objects from images. A new Passwords app consolidates password management under one interface on all devices with a streamlined experience rivaling third-party solutions like 1Password.

Sequoia also introduces advanced messaging features such as scheduled messages, emoji tapbacks, stickers, and animated effects. The Notes app now supports audio transcription and equation solving, and Presenter Preview enhances video conferencing meetings by adding better presentation features.

Sequoia can be downloaded from Apple’s Beta Software Program in its beta version. It must be installed on secondary devices due to the bugs and compatibility problems found in initial releases. Sequoia is supported by most existing Mac models but not by some older models like the 2018 and 2019 MacBook Air.

macOS Sequoia continues Apple’s focus on integrating AI-driven capabilities while making things more usable across its ecosystem. The official launch is scheduled sometime later this fall, with more refinement to come in subsequent updates.
