Nintendo Prioritizes Switch Online Subscribers for Switch 2 Pre-Orders

Nintendo officially announced the pre-order details of its upcoming Switch 2 console in a special Nintendo Direct presentation. Pre-orders will become available on April 8, 2025, at $450. The bundle package with the console and the only Mario Kart World game will be available for $500. The Switch 2 will become available globally on June 5, 2025, and can be purchased at larger retail outlets such as Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart, among others.

Nintendo has announced some conditions for pre-ordering on its official shop. The clients must be aged 18 or above and sign in with their Nintendo account to express interest in pre-ordering. Email order invites will be sent on a first-come, first-served basis. Highest priority will be assigned to players who have been subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online for 12 months or longer and have played for a minimum of 50 hours as of April 2, 2025. When invited, customers will have 72 hours to place an order.

The Switch 2 will probably arrive with significant upgrades over the first model, including magnetic Joy-Con controllers and enhanced performance features like support for 4K resolution in TV mode. It will also be compatible with games from the original Nintendo Switch, allowing users to play their existing game library without additional cost.

Store operators like Walmart and Best Buy may offer members of their subscription plans early pre-orders, for instance, Walmart Plus or Best Buy Total memberships. Incentivize customers to register their interest early with store operators or become members of subscription plans so that they can have a pre-order.

With such immense demand for large console releases like this, Nintendo fans should be quick to act when pre-orders hit the market and explore different modes of purchase in not wanting to miss out.
