Sony has launched its 2025 Bravia TV lineup with three new models spanning different segments. The flagship of the line is the Bravia 8 II QD-OLED, which takes over from the Bravia 8 and brings high-end specifications. It is based on Sony’s XR processor, which is fueled by AI-driven scene recognition technology that analyzes content and cross-checks it with a reference library to enhance details in challenging scenes. This AI-based method enhances tone mapping and color gradients, leading to extremely realistic images, particularly in bright or dark environments. The QD-OLED panel also provides deep blacks and great contrast, signature characteristics of contemporary OLED technology.
The Bravia 8 II also has Acoustic Surface Audio+, in which the screen acts as a speaker that gets its sound from various points on the screen based on what is happening. While actual size options have yet to be released, its predecessor offered 55″, 65″, and 75″ versions.
The Bravia 5 midrange closes the gap between Sony’s new series, a mini LED display with Backlight Master Drive for reduced noise and increased contrast. It is available in sizes of up to 98 inches and offers rich colors and high detail reproduction, making it ideal for large screen usage.
Completing the series is the Bravia 2 II, which is a budget model that transitions to direct-lit LED tech for improved viewing angles and more vivid colors. It supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for home theater audio and Google TV OS with an onboard upscaler to render older material in 4K resolution. Its refresh rate, however, is limited to 60Hz.
All models feature Studio Calibrated modes for Netflix and Amazon Prime, ensuring that content is displayed just as the filmmakers intended. Pricing and availability will be announced later this spring, with review availability expected when units are sent out for review.
